In November 2024, Tohoku University became the very first university in Japan to be designated an "University for International Research Excellence." This special recognition means Tohoku University is expected to grow even stronger in its research capabilities. We'll do this by inviting world-class researchers to join us and by training the next generation of young researchers who will shape the future.

Tohoku University offers 3 undergraduate and about 60 graduate programs through which students can earn a degree in English.
